ISO REGISTRATION: PREPARE FOR UPDATED GREENHOUSE GAS REVIEW STANDARDS (DEMO)
For businesses that aim to make waves in their respective industries, be it locally or globally, getting certified by the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) is of paramount importance. The international quality standard known as ISO 9001, in particular, enables organizations of every size and type to continually enhance their processes and management systems with a view toward providing customers with better products and services. As such, ISO undertakes constant revisions in response to evolving market needs.
According to Climate Control News, the ISO’s Technical Committee is conferring with member countries to review and possibly update standards in relation to greenhouse gas emissions by proposing a more eco-friendly charter. Some of the proposed revisions touch upon previous standards such as the following:
ISO 14064-1 Greenhouse gases — Part 1: Specification with guidance at the organization level for quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and removals will address some key GHG quantification issues and will include a more standardized reporting frame. ISO 14064-2 Greenhouse gases — Part 2: Specification with guidance at the project level for quantification, monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gas emission reductions or removal enhancements will be expanded to be applicable to carbon credit and innovative technology projects, and projects internal to organizations. ISO 14064-3 Greenhouse gases — Part 3: Specification with guidance for the validation and verification of greenhouse gas assertions. That being said, companies that wish to acquire the ISO’s stamp of approval in relation to this metric must proceed with utmost diligence when filing for ISO registration. To be ISO 9001-certified, an organization must comply with all documentary requirements and pass all audits. This can be a rather tedious process, one that requires thorough communication, monitoring and measurement, documentation, management review, and process improvements among other things. To accomplish these tasks satisfactorily, an organization would do well to work with an accredited ISO 9001 registrar like International Standards Authority, Inc. Auditors from such a company are well-versed in the quality management system certification process and likewise offer surveillance visits as part of continual improvement efforts. Under the guidance of a top-performing registrar, an organization not only gets recognized by an internationally recognized standards body but also gains the continued trust of its valued clients.
